As children we were more likely disposed to praying than when we are older. The simplicity of childhood gives way to the complexity of adulthood. How many times have we found ourselves dozing off during prayer? It is precisely in our weakness in praying that the Spirit comes to our aid, interceding with sighs too deep for words. The Spirit can intercede for each one of us today if we learn to be childlike, if we allow the Spirit to enter in our hearts. Indeed we will not be able to enter the kingdom of heaven if we do not “become like children”, depending and trusting in respect to God. Each has his or her own unique experience of praying. Some may find peace and joy during the time they are praying while others may not. Some may discover calmness after praying, even when there are problems in the family and problems at work, and others may not. But if we pray regularly, whether we get anything out of it or we don’t, we can be sure that we are fulfilling what is expected of us and that is to learn and to love. Praying means that we acknowledge our poverty in spirit. In prayer, we achieve peace and joy because it is simply a direct way of connecting to God. (",)
